Long Way Down

FEAR is like a big ugly bear, suffocating all the lovely air,
Makes you do the strangest things,
Makes you feel so small and insignificant, when you’re so brilliant,
Someone pokes you in the eye, you poke ’em back and it makes ’em cry,
And you feel so good and you don’t know why,
Look up to the sky and see the brightest lights, or the blackest night,
That’s how it is, and its a long way down,

And all of your friends say its ok to lie and cheat and fake
and take the candy, from the baby,
Its all fair game, you’re not to blame,
You tell yourself you’re justified but the ego it just loves to lie,
Your mamma said you’re the best there is,
And daddy says that ignorance is simply bliss, and now its come to this,
That’s just how it is, and its a long way down,

We’re born to a world filled with people who hate and they
laugh at the pain cos they’re paid to prepare for the new age,
Its an an old god with a brand new face,
We live and we talk and we tell our lies, just to get by,
That’s how it is and its a long way down,

Living a dream that you think is for real,
because everyday feels like the birth of a beautiful future,
You’re the hero and everyone loves ya,
Everyone loves ya, and its a long way down
